Busselton shark nets

Busselton and Vasse in Western Australia are known for their beaches equipped with shark barriers to ensure safe swimming areas. These barriers offer peace of mind to swimmers, snorkelers, and families, allowing them to enjoy the stunning coastline and rivers without fear.

An iconic tourist spot in the area is the Busselton Jetty, which boasts a unique electromagnetic 'shark curtain' that was installed in 2019. This innovative barrier uses 20 devices emitting electromagnetic pulses to deter sharks and manta rays while safeguarding other marine life from harm.

Apart from Busselton Jetty, shark barriers are also present at Cottesloe Beach, Coogee Beach, Quinns Beach, and Old Dunsborough Beach in Western Australia. These eco shark barriers differ from traditional shark nets by being more selective in keeping out larger marine animals while minimizing impact on smaller species.
