The Central Ranges Zone encompasses the Western Slopes, Hilltops, and Canberra Districts, with the Orange region standing out for its diverse range of varietals such as Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Grigio. These varieties thrive in the region's moderate altitudes of 600 to 1,100 meters above sea level, creating a milder climate compared to lower elevations.
The Hilltops Zone, located south of the Central Ranges Zone, boasts higher elevation and cooler climate conditions that are ideal for cultivating both warm- and cool-climate varieties. Popular grape varieties in this zone include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay.
