The Rockhampton Zoo in Queensland, Australia, is a popular attraction owned and operated by the Rockhampton Regional Council. Located within the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens in The Range suburb, the zoo houses nearly 100 animals from 31 species, including native and exotic varieties.
Among the animals at the Rockhampton Zoo are Asian small-clawed otters, chimpanzees, meerkats, koalas, wombats, and red kangaroos. Visitors can also enjoy the Australian Wetlands zone, featuring a renowned saltwater crocodile named "The Colonel."
Entry to the zoo is free, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace. Skilled keepers conduct daily talks and feeding sessions, offering insights into the animals' behaviors. The Rockhampton Zoo welcomes guests from 9 am to 4:15 pm daily, including public holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day.
