Whitsundays beaches

The Whitsundays, a cluster of islands located 55 km off the Queensland coast, are known for their turquoise waters, swirling white sands, and beautiful secluded beaches. The region is home to the iconic Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island, a seven-kilometer stretch of pristine white sand. Some of the top beaches and bays in the Whitsundays include Whitehaven Beach & Hill Inlet, Horseshoe Bay in Bowen, Hydeaway Bay Beach, various island beaches, Boathaven Beach, Cape Hillsborough, and Catseye Beach on Hamilton Island.

The Whitsundays offer a range of experiences, from sailing and diving to exploring the Great Barrier Reef. The main gateway to the region is Airlie Beach, a coastal town with a laid-back atmosphere, waterfront parks, al fresco restaurants, and vibrant markets. The Whitsundays are easily accessible via two airports, namely Hamilton Island Airport and Whitsundays Coast Airport, which service direct flights from various Australian cities.
