Bulloo, Queensland, is home to the Lake Bindegolly National Park, a diverse and unique park that spans 14,000 hectares. The park features a variety of landscapes, including samphire flats, claypans, sand dunes, hard and soft red mulga country, gidgee woodlands, and more. Lake Bindegolly National Park is located approximately 34 km east of Thargomindah and is only accessible on foot due to the fragile nature of the area. The park is renowned for its birdwatching opportunities, as it is home to thousands of waterbirds that can be seen on the lakes.
The park also contains three lakes: two saline and one freshwater. A 318 kmĀ² area of the lake and its surroundings has been identified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area, supporting various bird species such as Bourke's parrot, slaty-backed thornbill, grey-headed honeyeater, black honeyeater, pied honeyeater, Hall's babbler, chirruping wedgebill, and chestnut-breasted quail-thrush. Visitors to the park can enjoy camping nearby on the southern side of the Bulloo Development Road (Adventure Way), although there are no facilities available. For those seeking alternative accommodations, the nearby town of Thargomindah offers various holiday options.
